About
BUTI
BUTI is a female-empowerment lifestyle brand. Our signature movement fuses yoga, tribal dance and plyometrics and functions as the core of our wellness approach. Derived from the Marathi word Buti meaning “the cure to something hidden or kept secret,” our goal is to guide women through movement, nutrition and wellness that supports the female spirit — transforming lives from the inside-out. ™
Our trademarked movement styles include BUTI®, BUTI® Sculpt and HOT BUTI®. Our BUTI® and HOT BUTI® lasses range from 60-90 minutes and can be taught in a room temperature or HOT studio. BUTI® Sculpt classes take 24-30 min and follow a comprehensive HIIT format with yoga asanas during the Low Intervals. In BUTI classes, we focus on spiraling movements aimed at unlocking the Shakti Spiral as well as releasing the hips to help energy flow freely in the 1st and 2nd chakras. BUTI® combines various styles of Hatha yoga with tribal-influenced dance sequences to keep the heart rate up, free the female spirit and help women form a tribe or sisterhood.
BUTI® classes have taken off throughout the country with studios in over 15 states. Our instructors are rigorously trained and are taught to lead their BUTI® tribe in an empowering and holistic way. It is our sincere hope that women will delve deeply into this practice, form a true sisterhood and learn to love themselves in an empowering way.
Created by yoga and fitness expert Bizzie Gold, BUTI is at the cutting-edge of modern fitness. With a strong background in competitive skiing and a love for CrossFit, Gold focused on fusing plyometric drills with the traditional yoga “vinyasa” to maximize calorie burn while attaining long, lean muscle tone. Competitive ski training focuses on plyometric drills to increase explosive power and overall cardiovascular strength. After a major injury, Bizzie decided to add a yoga practice to her training — the results were amazing. “When I developed BUTI, my goal was to build a yoga-based practice that allowed me to achieve the same results I would get from a grueling 2-hour gym workout. After years of fine-tuning, I believe I have succeeded,” mentions Gold. BUTI plyometric drills target specific muscle groups and each have a yoga-based component. It is the perfect workout for those who do not have time to enjoy a solid yoga practice and also hit the gym. “Adding the plyometric drills really changed my figure and helped me bounce back after giving birth to my daughter,”said creator Bizzie Gold.It turns out the ultimate trick to achieving the perfect physique– intervals of dance-based cardio and plyometrics woven into a yoga “vinyasa.”
BUTI is not only physically and cardiovascularly challenging, it is mind opening. Frustrated with how closed off the hips are in American culture, Bizzie spent time sorting through various dance styles that focus on a wild shaking hips (and BUTI). “It’s unfortunate that we are one of the few cultures who have no traditional dance that allows us the freedom and release of intense hip shaking. To my knowledge, the only dance styles I could find that have roots in the US are Miami Booty Dancing, Hip Hop and Crunk.” Obviously, many of these styles originally have their roots in traditional African Dance and other Afro-Carribbean countries. BUTI utilizes various dance movements from a variety of tribal-based dance styles including Brazilian “Baile Funk,” Miami Booty Dance, Hip-Hop, Crunk, African Tribal, and Arabic Tribal. BUTI seamlessly connects these dance styles into power yoga sequences, for the ultimate fitness experience. In addition to the physical benefits, BUTI helps its students break through barriers of self-esteem. BUTI is extremely sexy and freeing, often helping students undergo a complete SELF-transformation. This fitness concept works primarily in the 1st and 2nd and chakras to activate the innate qualities of sexuality, power and confidence. At first, students may giggle or feel shy during the BUTI Shake segments of class. A week later, the same student will have a fierce look in their eye watching their coordinated and powerful movements in the mirror with pride. This emotional component is not to be overlooked when a student is trying to get in shape. Emotional breakthrough, coupled with an obvious change in body tone and decrease in bodyfat, leads to overall life change.
